WALDORF ASTORIA FROSTING

| 1 | cup | milk |
| 1/4 | cup | flour |
| 1 | cup | sugar |
| 1 | cup | solid white shortening |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | salt |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla |
- Stir together milk and flour in a saucepan; let stand 5 minutes. Cook over low heat until slightly thickened. Cool, but don't let it get cold.
- Beat together sugar and shortening until mixture is flutty. Beat in milk mixture, salt and vanilla. Continue beating until fluffy.
- Frost cake.
